UPDATE: $50k reward offered for information on shooting that left two children dead

Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit are seeking information from the public regarding the shooting death of two boys on Tuesday in southwest Atlanta.

An initial $10,000 reward was increased to $50,000 on Wednesday afternoon for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

The boys have been identified as Lamon Freeman, 13, and Jakoby Davis. 12.

According to the police report, officers responded to a call of a juvenile shot at 1043 Sparks St. SW around 12:36 a.m. on July 2. Upon arrival at the apartment complex, officers located three juvenile males with gunshot wounds. One was pronounced deceased on scene by Grady EMS, one was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The third child was transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition.

Homicide investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Tips can also be submitted directly to APD’s Homicide Unit at (404) 546-4235.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic shooting that occurred last night in Oakland City,” District 4 Atlanta City Councilman Jason Dozier. “Two young lives were lost because of gun violence, and another young soul was critically injured. The ages of all three victims range from 12 to 14 years old, underscoring the senselessness of this act. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims during this challenging time.”

APD is also still seeking information about the shooting death of two men on June 23 in northwest Atlanta.

Officers discovered Jose Ozuna and Junior Vasquez, both 21, shot to death at 3854 Old Gordon Road. At this time, the investigation continues.
