Cynteria Lomnick told Channel 2′s Tom Jones she was a nervous wreck after getting a call from Crawford Long Middle school about what happened.

“For you to get a call saying your child passed out,” she said.

Lomnick says it was the worst call a parent could receive. She says a school nurse told her: “My son passed out and he’s unconscious. And at that moment my heart started beating fast. I started crying.”

Lomnick raced to the school May 3. She says paramedics had pulled up when she arrived. Lomnick says her son was crying and had an ice pack on his face.

She says a school employee told her her son was running around in class with his friends. “As he started walking toward me he passed out,” she says the school employee told her.

    TRENDING STORIES:

Lomnick says her son didn’t remember what happened. He was transported to the hospital and checked for a concussion. The results were negative.

The mother says after her son got home a classmate told him--and her-- what really happened. And she says her son’s memory came back. He said he was running in class and the school employee grabbed him. “He grabbed me from behind my neck and choked me,” she says her son told her.

Lomnick says the school did nothing until her attorney got involved and sent a demand letter to the school district.

Attorney Kianna Chennault says that’s when the family recently received a notice that an internal investigation is under way. “They have acknowledged an incident has taken place and the teacher has been alleged of doing wrong,” Chennault said.

Atlanta Public Schools says as this is a pending legal matter, it can’t comment at this time.

Lomnick says she and her son deserve justice. “He shouldn’t be in the classroom at all. He shouldn’t be around children at all.”

Jones reached out to his sources at APS. They say the  child passed out on his own and the school employee did nothing wrong.

The demand letter the family’s attorney sent is asking for a million dollars. And also asks that the district train staff better on de-escalation techniques.

The mother says her son will no longer attend the school.
