Braves Could Land Angels All-Star On Trade Block To Fill Biggest Hole

The Atlanta Braves are in an interesting spot with not much time left until the trade deadline.

Atlanta currently holds the top Wild Card spot in the National League and has been able to find success despite losing two of their best players in Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider to injuries.

Injuries of that level would absolutely devastate some teams, but not the Braves. Atlanta is one of the deepest teams in baseball and has been able to stack up wins despite losing both superstars.

The Braves even still have a chance to contend for a World Series title this year but a strong trade deadline is necessary to keep those hopes alive. Some have speculated that the Braves need to add a starting pitcher and one they should consider is Los Angeles Angels two-time All-Star Tyler Anderson.

Anderson has been an All-Star in two of the last three seasons -- including the 2024 campaign -- and clearly is on the trade block. Los Angeles is having yet another rough season and it seems like Anderson will be on the move. He even was listed on MLB.com's Mark Feinsand's list of seven All-Stars who could be traded.

"An All-Star for the second time in three years, Anderson has been one of the few bright spots in the Angels’ rotation this season," Feinsand said. "The 34-year-old went 8-8 with a 2.97 ERA in 19 starts (118 innings) in the first half, ranking in the 86th percentile in opponents' average exit velocity and hard-hit percentage.

"Anderson is owed roughly $5 million this season and will earn $13 million in the final year of his contract in 2025. Given the dearth of quality starting pitching expected to be available this month, the Angels should have a number of suitors for Anderson, who is doing his best to block out the trade rumors this month."

The All-Star lefty wouldn't only give the Braves a boost this year, but he also could help in 2025, as well. Atlanta widely is considered one of the best teams in baseball and should invest in the club by adding one more pitcher.
