    Southern-Fried Gaming Expo

    Atlanta’s homegrown convention focused entirely on gaming returns for its 11th annual event Friday through Sunday at the Cobb Galleria Centre and Renaissance Waverly Hotel & Convention Center.

    Attendees can enjoy a weekend of family-friendly fun with over 500 arcade games, pinball machines and video game consoles on free play.

    The convention will also feature celebrity guests, hundreds of tabletop board and roleplaying games and over 150 scheduled events.

    SFGE hours are Friday from 3 to 11:45 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, click here .

    Swiftie Night

    Calling all Cobb Swifties! Cobb Parks and Jennie T. Anderson Theatre presents "Swiftie Night" this Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. This event offers a “Blank Space” to sing karaoke, play trivia and music bingo, dress up as your favorite era and make friendship bracelets.

    Swiftie Night costs $10 for Cobb residents and $15 for non-residents, both of which include a bingo card and friendship bracelet making.

    Kennesaw Outdoor Movie Series: 'Top Gun: Maverick'

    Join the city of Kennesaw this Friday for a family viewing of “Top Gun: Maverick” (PG-13) on a giant inflatable screen at Swift-Cantrell Park. Food vendors, music and activities for kids are available beginning at 6 p.m., and the movie begins at sundown.

    Attendees are welcome to bring blankets and chairs, but high-backed chairs, umbrellas, tents and canopies that could block the view for others are not allowed. VIP tents will be available for rent and placed at the back of the viewing area.

    Swift-Cantrell Park is at 3140 Old 41 Highway.

    Nickel Creek and Andrew Bird at the Coca-Cola Roxy

    Join Grammy-winning bluegrass band Nickel Creek and Grammy-nominated indie rock singer-songwriter Andrew Bird for the “Up, Up, & Away Summer Tour ‘24” at the Coca-Cola Roxy this Friday at 7 p.m. The tour commemorates Nickel Creek’s new album, “Celebrants,” released in March 2023 after a nine-year hiatus.

    An Evening With Black Violin

    Celebrate 20 years of breakthrough violin music with classical-meets-hip-hop duo Black Violin at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre on Saturday at 8 p.m.

    The Grammy-nominated duo has previously worked with Kanye West, Tom Petty, Lupe Fiasco and Aerosmith, and has also opened for the Wu-Tang Clan.

    Ticket prices range from $39 for general lawn seating to $200 for VIP table, plus applicable fees. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink, and food vendors will also be available. Parking is free.
