Braves reportedly lose superstar as tough injuries continue to pile up

The Atlanta Braves can't seem to catch a break this season.

If you were to take a look at the standings, you wouldn't know how much turmoil the club has dealt with. Atlanta has been one of the better teams in the National League this season but has been bitten by the injury bug in a significant way.

The Braves lost Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. earlier this season and got hit with another tough injury on Sunday. Atlanta reportedly lost superstar infielder Ozzie Albies to a left wrist fracture and he now will miss roughly eight weeks of action, according to The Athletic's David O'Brien.

"Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies has a left-wrist fracture and is expected to miss approximately eight weeks," O'Brien said.

Albies is just the latest Braves star to go down with an injury. The three-time All-Star is one of the top second basemen in the National League and has clubbed eight home runs, driven in 46 runs, and slashed .255/.308/.403 in 89 games played.

He now will miss roughly two months of action with a return in September seemingly being the best-case scenario. This is another tough blow for the Braves and could end up altering the club's trade deadline plans with it being just over a week away now.

Maybe the Braves now will look to add a middle infielder to help down the stretch until Albies can make his way back?
