Braves Could Acquire Bounce-Back Veteran To Add Needed Pitching Help

The 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline officially is one week away.

There surely will be plenty of movement across the league as teams toward the bottom of the standings look to rebuild for the future by acquiring prospects. Teams toward the top of the standings -- like the Atlanta Braves -- will take advantage of the sellers and land players to help win now.

Atlanta will be looking to add and should be able to make some noise this season despite a wide range of unfortunate injuries. The Braves still have a chance to make a deep playoff run because they are one of the deepest teams in baseball but a solid deadline is a necessity.

One player the Braves were mentioned as a possible option for is Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Erick Fedde by The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman and Tim Britton.

"Erick Fedde reinvented himself in South Korea, winning MVP honors and then returning to MLB on a two-year, $15 million deal that now has the last-place White Sox primed to get some real value in exchange," Gleeman and Britton said. "While not quite a front-line arm, this version of Fedde looks like a solid mid-rotation starter, and next year's $7.5 million salary is a bargain even if he regresses a bit. Potential landing spots: Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, and Atlanta Braves."

Fedde is an intriguing player to watch out for this summer. He didn't pitch in the big leagues in 2023 but looks completely different after a year of pitching in South Korea and now is a hot commodity at the trade deadline. He will be moved and he could add another punch to the Braves' rotation.
