What to expect from Harris' campaign stop in Atlanta

Vice President Kamala Harris is planning to "prosecute" Donald Trump and his policies during her visit to Atlanta on Tuesday, according to her campaign.

Why it matters: Georgia is a battleground state that decided the last presidential election by 11,780 votes.

    • The Harris campaign expects this year's race to be just as close and competitive, says Harris campaign communications director Michael Tyler.

The latest: Harris' rally at the Georgia State University Convocation Center at 7pm comes one day after Iowa enacted one of the strictest abortion bans in the nation.

    • The vice president's team is mobilizing dozens of events across battleground states this week focused on reproductive rights, Tyler says.
    • He says Harris and her surrogates will tell voters about "Trump's dangerous Project 2025 plan to enact a national abortion ban, to restrict contraception and even women's access to [ in vitro fertilization ]."

State of play: The Harris campaign is also working to rally voters around Supreme Court reform after President Biden unveiled proposals on Monday for term limits and ethics codes for justices.

    • Tyler says Harris supports "reforms to a court that's abusing its power and harming Americans' lives."

Behind the scenes: Tyler says Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), Mayor Andre Dickens, Rep. Nikema Williams (D-Ga.), and two-time former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams are among the special guests joining Harris in Atlanta.

    • Tyler says Harris will be introduced by Morehouse College senior Tyler Greene, who credits Harris' support for young black entrepreneurs as a catalyst behind Greene's small business.
    • Harris will also meet with local reproductive rights leaders and activists, Tyler says.

By the numbers: Tyler says "the next 99 days are going to be a marathon at a sprint's pace."

    • Harris has more than 170 coordinated staff in 24 offices across Georgia, the campaign says.
    • 2,500 volunteers joined more than 174 events in the state this weekend, including more than 300 voters in Forsyth County.

Stunning stat: Tuesday's event marks Harris' 17th trip to Georgia, which includes two campaign stops before the 2020 election.

The intrigue: Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is reportedly joining Harris in Atlanta for a special performance, Billboard reports.

Follow the money: Meanwhile, Harris has raised more than $200 million in less than a week, with two-thirds from new donors.

What they're saying: "We are the underdogs in this race, but the groundswell of support around the vice president is real, and it is meaningful," Dan Kanninen, the Harris campaign's battleground states director, said. "Our task now is to translate that enthusiasm into action."
