T.I. reportedly was caught up in a case of mistaken identity after police arrested the rapper while he was at an airport.

According to a report TMZ published on Monday, August 5, the Grand Hustle CEO was at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta when officers apprehended him due to a warrant out of Baltimore, MD. The warrant was issued on June 13 for a man named Clifford Harris, which is also Tip's birth name. Police pursued the other Harris after he was accused of being violent towards a woman and stalking her. The warrant also alleged that a gun was involved.

Tip was taken from the airport to the Clayton County jail on Sunday night. Because the warrant stemmed from out of state, the King rapper almost immediately faced an extradition hearing. Tip's attorney Steve Sadow told the outlet he was able to get in touch with the Clayton County Sheriff's Office and got the artist released from custody two hours after he was arrested.

The entire situation was a clear case of mistaken identity. The actual Clifford Harris police are looking for clocks in at 205 pounds, and T.I. is a lot lighter than that. The judge was able to review the case and dismissed the extradition order.

As of this report, T.I. has not commented on the error that was made by the police.
