Is a second Brookshire Grocery Company chain coming to Ruston?
Well, based on signage that appeared this week on Farmerville Highway by North Village Apartments, Ruston will soon find out. Although attempts to reach a spokesperson with the Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) chain have been unsuccessful thus far, a sign appeared this week that leads us to believe a second store is coming to Ruston.
Shreveport Woman Brought a Knife to a Gunfight
SHREVEPORT, LA- Woman Arrested in Domestic Shooting Incident. On July 11, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Shreveport Police were dispatched to the 7800 block of Pines Road in response to a domestic incident involving a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a male and female had been involved in an altercation. During the altercation, the female, later identified as 26-year-old Shacamrie Taylor, allegedly pulled a knife. In response, the male involved produced a firearm. A struggle ensued over the weapon, resulting in the gun being discharged.
Famous Louisiana Band Faces Serious Allegations
In the late 1980s Ruston found itself as the birthplace of the Elephant 6 Recording Company, a musical coalition that would go on to spawn famous bands like The Apples in Stereo, Of Montreal, The Olivia Tremor Control, and most notably Neutral Milk Hotel. Julian Koster was a member of the aforementioned Neutral Milk Hotel, joining the band in the late 90s for the recording of their cult classic album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Koster recorded the banjo and singing saw on the album, then transitioned to the band's touring bassist after the album's release. Earlier this week Koster came under fire after serious allegations were levied against him.
