The Brick Streets, Bites and Boutiques Event Was Made for a Perfect Outing
Natchitoches’ Historic Downtown Business Association (HDBA) held its inaugural Brick Streets, Bites and Boutiques event Thursday, July 11. The fun event featured fifteen HDBA member retail stores who agreed to stay open until 8:00 p.m. Downtown Natchitoches was filled with groups of visitors who walked from shop to shop along Front Street. Shoppers also had an opportunity to win a $500.00 Shopping Voucher sponsored by the HDBA.

NWS Shreveport: 36 tornadoes hit region during Tropical Story Beryl
The National Weather Service in Shreveport has identified 36 tornadoes and one wind streak from Beryl across the Ark-La-Tex region, including tornadoes in East Texas. The NWS issued 67 tornado warnings between 12:19 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Monday. That’s the highest number of tornado warnings ever issued by a National Weather Service office during the month of July, meteorologist Ryan Knapp said. It's also the highest number of warnings issued by the weather service in Shreveport during a single-day event. The previous record was 36 set Dec. 27, 2015.
Details on investigation into shooting that killed a man at west Shreveport barbecue
Details on the investigation that led to an arrest for the fatal shooting of a man at a west Shreveport barbecue have been made part of the case's public record. Dwight Green, 29, was shot and killed as he barbecued with friends in the 5100 block of Broadway Avenue in the city's Mooretown neighborhood just before 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18. Green was shot numerous times and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner. Witnesses said that Green had been barbecuing with his friends for the whole day and that they were selling plates of food to people in the community, according to police documents.
