    Playoff Picture

    A few of our local ball teams are still playing and hoping to go deeper into the state playoffs. Atlanta’s baseball team won a Bi-District championship over Mineola after topping the Yellowjackets 6-4, 11-8 in two games.

    Atlanta will play Elysian Fields in the Area round beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, in Atlanta.

    Game two is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at Elysian Fields High School, and game three, if necessary, will take place at Carthage High School on Saturday, May 11. The time for that game is to be determined.

    Linden-Kildare’s baseball team won a Bi-District title over North Hopkins by winning 2-of-3 in the series. The Tigers will face Kerens in the Area round beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. Game two will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10, with game three to follow shortly after if necessary.

    All games will be played at Grand Saline High School.

    Queen City’s softball beat a tough county foe in Hughes Springs for an Area title last week.

    The Lady Mustangs were a very formidable opponent as QC pulled out two tough 1-0 wins.

    The Lady Bulldogs will take on Mineola in the third round with action starting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. Game two will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, and game three, if necessary, will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10. All games will be played at Tatum High School.

    McLeod’s softball team beat Kerens 5-4 for the Area title in a 1-game playoff. The Lady Longhorns will take on Como-Pickton next in a 3-game series beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. Game two is at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 10, and game three, if necessary, will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. All games will be played at Hooks High School.

    Bloomburg’s softball team won its first-round playoff game with a 4-2 win over Saltillo. The Lady Wildcats will take on Neches next but as of this article no news had been released concerning the date, time and place of the playoff contest.
