Atlantic City offers gamut of events as we hit the ides of March

Seinfeld and Tony Orlando may be sold out, but there are still plenty of things to do this weekend in our area.
We can always count on our casinos to bring in fabulous headliners. However, there’s no shortage of charity events, local talent, smaller venues and even sports to banish boredom from the ides of March.
Anyone who attended the parade last Saturday will agree that March certainly does come in like a lion.
Combat the whacky weather this time of year by heading to the tropics, if only for a few hours.
Island Water Park inside the Showboat is hosting a fabulous fundraiser put on by the Cancer Support Community New Jersey at Gilda’s Club on Thursday night.
Guests will delight in music, food, raffles, an open bar, $5 parking, the opportunity to “dig for diamonds!” and, of course, a tax write off.
Here’s something that doesn’t come to our area very often – chamber music!
The Parish of Saint Monica welcomes you to an evening of J.S. Bach, Hoffmeister and Matiegka at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Come out and enjoy classical music as it intersects with the ornate architecture of the parish. If you haven’t been inside this church, it is a sight to behold from floor to ceiling. It was built in 1905, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
Head out to Long Beach Island and join me, Taylor Mason and Dan Callahan for a night of laughs at Tucker’s Tavern. You won’t be disappointed.
Spoiler alert! Taylor brings puppets.
If you haven’t been, this place is fun and festive with lots of nautical decor. The food is great and the bar is extensive. They support local talent while filling your belly with top choices from the sea.
When this holiday falls on a weekend, you know that the city by the sea is going to be host to a sea of green.
Start hydrating now. Then be sure to visit all our great houses of spirits, grab some corned beef and enjoy all the emerald fun on Saturday and Sunday.
Then Monday, enjoy some day drinking over bagpipes at the Irish Pub for the infamous Bag Day. IYKYK. (But seriously, if you don’t know, read my story this Friday.)
There’s a bar crawl on Saturday that will lead you to some places that you may not have visited yet. Check out the link below.
Take in five short plays and a three-course dinner for the very reasonable price of $45 on Tuesdays through April 9.
The South Jersey Players mix local performers and playwrights for performances that can’t be seen anywhere else – yet!
Head to Ventnor and see these all-new original one-acts. Perhaps you know some of the participants? Tom Chin, Sondra Mandel, Jim O’Hara, Sheila McDonald and Edward Shakespeare are the fledgling writers.
Cast members include Jack Parrish, Shirley Belitsky, Leesa Toscano, Parker Smith, Dayle Friedman, Jamie Weinberg, Jared Migden, Shirlee DiBacco, Jim Erickson, Joseph Chialastri, Judy Parrish, Nick Efstatos and Scott Friedman. Come support your pals!
Reid Alburger will even be on hand to provide dinner music on classical guitar as you dine on Italian cuisine.
March 21st is one of the premier events of the season. The 41st Annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala is next Thursday at the Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center. This year’s theme is Springtime in Paris. Attendees can drink and dine on selections from fifty South Jersey restaurants while listening to live music.
Grab your tickets now as attendees usually reach the 1,000 mark. And they are way cheaper than flying to France!
