Atlantic City's Anti-Violence Unit to host Community Day on Saturday

Atlantic City's anti-violence unit is sponsoring a Community Day this coming weekend.

Free food, music, games and raffles will be part of the festivities from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Oscar McClinton Park.

The hosts will be One Neighborhood Evolution , the city's anti-violence team.

"Join us in taking a stand," the announcement says of stopping gun violence.

One Neighborhood Evolution was formed in November 2020, as a response to the street violence.

Mayor Marty Small has taken heat for those he chose for the team, since they have criminal records. But Small has insisted that those who had issues are the most qualified to help others in similar situations.

The state also has categorized the resort as a "second-chance city."
