    Atlantic RAGBRAI Executive Chairs Deem the Overnight Stay a Success

    (Atlantic) Atlantic Executive Chamber Director Bailey Smith and Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue, Executive Chairs appearing in front of the City Council on Wednesday, deemed RAGBRAI’s overnight stay in Atlantic a success.

    Council member Elaine Otte said she heard nothing but good things about the overnight stay in Atlantic.

    Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue says there were very few problems, and the cyclists hit the road early on Tuesday morning. Chief Hogue says there were only two arrests, and they were local. He says there was no issue with RAGBRAI riders.

    Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett says the businesses along Main Street were open, and people were shopping.

    This is the 8th time Atlantic has hosted an overnight stay.

    In other business:

    *The Council approved Wild Wayne’s for a special Fireworks Display on September 14 at 103 West 29th Street for Duke Aerials Employee Appreciation Event.

    *Approve the second reading of Ordinance Number 1044, “Rezoning Camblin Hills Subdivision in Atlantic from R-2 (Low-Density Single Family Residential) to R-4 (Multifamily).

    *Approved change order No. 1 for the Sunnyside Splashpad project and approved the first pay application of $316,087.41 to the Henly Group, LLS, for the project.
