(Atlantic) The late Bob Bebensee was honored before the Cass County Horse Show started on Thursday afternoon.

Bob, known as “Cowboy Bob,” passed away last summer. His family is donating a memorial bench in his honor, service, and love of the Cass County Fair. Bob’s wife, Dee, and family were on hand to unveil the bench, and Dee was the first to take a seat.

Bob was a big part of the Cass County 4H/FFA Horse Show for years, announcing the horse shows alongside “Big E” Eleanor Hoover. The two worked together in the 1980s when his grandchildren were involved in the fair. Cowboy Bob truly enjoyed being part of the fun at the fair and showing up at many of the clinics and practices throughout the years.

Bob and his Tennessee Walkers were also known on the parade circuit as they carried the American Flag to lead parades on holidays and for special community events in the area. If the parade were long enough, Bob would go through with the flag…then join the saddle club to go through again.

Ryan South, Bob’s son-in-law, designed the raised seating so fans could have an elevated view of the show. His granddaughter, Tiffany South, designed the seat back, and Weirich Welding built the bench.
