Man dies in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Madison County, FHP says

A man died in a crash after overturning his truck early Tuesday morning on Interstate 10 in Madison County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 56-year-old of Atmore, Alabama, drove his truck, which had a boat in tow, off the road into the paved shoulder for "unknown reasons," said FHP, which does not identify crash victims in its press releases.

The driver "reentered the travel lanes causing the boat to jackknife," FHP said. The truck "traveled across the travel lanes and into the center median where (it) overturned before colliding with the guardrail."

Traffic on the westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 251 were shut down as first responders worked the scene, but they were later reopened.
