Atmore man arrested July 8 on warrant for eluding, resisting arrest, endangering welfare of child charges

An Atmore man was arrested on a warrant July 8 on eluding, resisting arrest and endangering the welfare of a child charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Tyler Reeve, 30, was arrested after eluding an APD officer.

McMann said at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 26, an APD officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel on Jack Springs Road.

“The officer activated his emergency blue lights and the vehicle accelerated,” McMann said. “The officer then activated his siren and pursued the vehicle until it stopped in Big Oak Trailer Park. The driver, Tyler Reeve, age 30 of Atmore, refused several verbal commands to exit the vehicle. Reeve questioned the officer’s knowledge of jurisdictional boundaries for several minutes until he was taken into custody. Once Reeve was taken into custody, the officer discovered there was a child in the vehicle during the pursuit.”

McMann added that Reeve posted bond and was released from the Atmore Municipal Jail.

The attempting to elude charge was upgraded to a felony when the officer’s GPS could be accessed to determine the speed, he said.

“Reeve exceeded the posted speed limit by over 20 miles per hour during the pursuit,” McMann said. “An arrest warrant was obtained for Reeve and he was taken into custody and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton on July 8, 2024.”
McMann said the case will be processed through the Escambia County District Court instead of the Atmore Municipal Court.
