National Civil Rights Museum commemorate 60th anniversary of 1964 Mississippi Freedom Summer project
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The National Civil Rights Museum hosted a community symposium on the 60th anniversary of the 1964 Mississippi Freedom Summer project Saturday. The events of that summer are being deemed as one of the last interracial civil rights efforts of the 1960's. This project was designed to put national attention to the violent oppression experienced by Mississippi Black residents who were trying to vote.
Woman sentenced to 11 years for I-55 road rage incident north of Pevely
PEVELY, Mo. — Shanyka Fouche, 25, of Memphis, Tenn., has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of several felonies stemming from an incident in 2021 when she fired a gun from a vehicle on I-55 north of Pevely, striking a vehicle and the passenger in that other vehicle, according to court documents.
