Treasures of the Chesapeake
On First Friday, May 3, The Artists’ Gallery will present “Treasures of the Chesapeake” by exhibiting artist Steve Bleinberger. Steve is an award-winning watercolor artist who exhibits his work extensively in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is especially known and respected for his depictions of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Bay waterscapes, workboats and the dwindling ranks of those that man them. Steve’s affinity with the Chesapeake and Tidewater region was nurtured by many summers spent surrounded by water on the shores of Thomas Point, south of Annapolis, within sight and sound of the iconic lighthouse.
AAM Announces Exhibitions
The Academy Art Museum is pleased to announce three new exhibitions that are currently on view: “Albrecht Dürer: Master Prints,” “Remnants of Childhood: Selections from the Permanent Collection” by AAM’s Teen Interns and a solo exhibition of works by painter Philip Koch, entitled “Light.” An artist talk for Koch will be held on Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m.
Inaugural Hall of Fame Awards
Plein Air Easton, the renowned celebration of outdoor painting, is excited to announce the inauguration of its Hall of Fame Awards. Established in honor of Plein Air Easton’s 20th anniversary, the Hall of Fame aims to recognize individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations that have made exceptional contributions to the continued success and growth of Plein Air Easton.
AAM Announces Solo Exhibition, “Heirlooms”
The Academy Art Museum is pleased to announce HEIRLOOMS, a solo exhibition by artist Darlene R. Taylor. An artist talk and reception for Taylor will be held on Friday, April 5 at 6 pm. Taylor is a multidisciplinary artist based in Washington, DC and the Maryland Eastern Shore. Her work explores identity, race, kinship, place, and the journey from girlhood to womanhood. Remembering and reclaiming a record of Black survival are at the center of her practice.
Harpist Wins MSO Competition
More than 300 classical music enthusiasts attending the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO) Elizabeth Loker International Concerto Competition – Final Round – gave standing ovations Sunday afternoon to performances by three very talented young artists from around the world at the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Maryland. The finalists, selected from 155 applicants who entered the Competition from 12 countries and 24 states, performed with the full Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra – the only professional symphony orchestra performing a full season of concerts across the DelMarVa peninsula – a very rare opportunity for young classical musicians.
Troika Gallery Presents Its Spring 2024 Show
First Fridays return to historic downtown Easton on April 5 and a Spring Show is featured at Troika Gallery. New artworks by select gallery artists will be beautifully exhibited from April 5 through May 31 with an opening reception on Friday, April 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Local Quilter Ventures into Fabric Design
What is the lure of patterns? “Triad Magic” Exhibit
On First Friday, April 5 and throughout the month, The Artists’ Gallery will feature new and exciting work by Barbara Zuehlke. After having worked in a variety of two-dimensional mediums, Barbara now works primarily in watercolor. As a triad painter, she works in three pigments: red, blue and yellow.
Chesapeake Film Festival Recognized for Promoting Environmental Awareness

GCA Calls for Director & Title Submissions
The Garfield Center for the Arts has opened its annual call for play and musical titles for production consideration. Suggestions and proposals can be made by Directors who would like to present a play or musical in the 2025 season as well as by interested community members, patrons of the Garfield Center and arts participants. All proposals must be received by the Garfield Center by midnight on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Contemporary Art Galleries is a collaborative gallery formed by Spiralis Gallery, owned by Gail Patterson, which features Contemporary Afro Caribbean art, and The Zebra Gallery, owned by Susan Schauer John, an award-winning local fiber artist.
