The Trippe Gallery Celebrates 10 Years
This month marks The Trippe Gallery’s 10th year exhibiting A-list contemporary artists, including oils, watercolors, etchings, fine art photography, printmaking and mixed media of American Impressionism, botanicals, plein air painting and abstract art. There is sculpture in bronze, porcelain and bonded marble. It is known as Easton’s liveliest gallery with a spectrum of openings and special events.
Second Annual Chalk Arts Festival
A band of chalk artists from across the country will be descending upon Cambridge and elevating the art scene for two days on the last weekend of October. These artists have been selected by the “Chalk Mafia” Facebook group to participate with chalk artist Ed Krell at this second annual festival that will celebrate the art of chalk and raise awareness for mental health. The tagline is: Making Big Waves – Creating Healing Waves One Chalk Line at a Time.
Tred Avon Players Presents “The Fantasticks”
Tred Avon Players presents “The Fantasticks,” a charming and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, and their two mothers who try to keep them apart. The Artists’ Gallery Presents “I Witness”
On First Friday, October 6 and throughout the month of October, The Artists’ Gallery will feature new work by Freeman Dodsworth in a series that includes both field and studio paintings. As an oil painter, Freeman travels the back roads of his native Chesapeake Bay, painting the skies, clouds, fields and rivers that he finds along the way.
Gallery on High Exhibit in Chestertown
Beginning September 16, Gallery on High in downtown Chestertown will feature the works of ceramicists Lauren Burnett and Chris Neiman, stained glass artist and photographer Kris Kelley Majors, and mosaic artist Jennifer Wagner. “The Addams Family” Musical
From the creators of “Jersey Boys,” book writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, along with Drama Desk Award-winning Composer and Lyricist Andrew Lippa, “The Addams Family – A New Musical” is based on the morbidly witty Addams Family cartoon. Created by Charles Addams, the Addams stories typically find patriarch Gomez and his beloved wife Morticia guiding their clan through the perils of living singularly in a world of uninteresting “normal” people.
AAM Announces a New Atrium Commission
The Academy Art Museum is pleased to announce its new exhibition Marty Two Bulls, Jr.: Dominion. South Dakota-based Oglala Sioux artist Marty Two Bulls, Jr. will transform the Museum’s Saul Atrium Gallery with a site-specific installation. His work critiques consumption culture, using the metaphor of the American Bison, one of the first American resources consumed almost to extinction. The amorphic Bisons emerge from a mess of detritus: paper and Tyvek cutouts, soda cans, milk jugs, and more. Two Bulls, Jr. reflects on consumerism by creating a wasteland resulting from a disconnection with nature and ancestral forms of knowledge.
Artists Call for Mental Health Awareness Week
Crossroads Community, Inc. and Corsica River Mental Health Services, Inc. are hosting a Mental Health Awareness Art Show, “True Colors: No Barriers.” Artwork will be displayed at the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College on October 2 through October 7, recognizing Mental Health Week. There will be an artists’ reception on October 6 from 3 to 8 p.m. Currently, artists from the Eastern Shore and beyond are encouraged to submit artwork for the art show.
“Pathways of Life” Exhibit
This First Friday, The Artists’ Gallery will feature paintings in oil and pastel by Evie Baskin in her newest body of work titled “Pathways of Life.” Included in this show will be landscapes and portraits of life that can be found along the Eastern Shore, Texas and parts of Ireland.
