Dave Harp Retrospective
Forty years of images by documentary photographer David W. Harp will be on display August 5 through September 25 at the Dorchester Center for the Arts in Cambridge. “Where Land and Water Meet: The Chesapeake Bay Photography of David W. Harp” is on loan from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum where the exhibition premiered in 2020 as well as in a virtual format. Fickle Mirror: Dialogues in Self-Portraiture
On August 2, the Academy Art Museum (AAM) in Easton opens an exciting exhibition, Fickle Mirror: Dialogues in Self-Portraiture. From the first staged photograph to the present day’s unceasing flow of selfies in social media, self-portraiture has expanded the possibilities of artistic production, enhancing the ability of artists to take control of their own representation, reinterpret truthfulness, and experiment with their chosen medium.
Artist-in-Residence Presents “Vestige”
The Academy Art Museum (AAM) is pleased to announce its 2022 Artist-in-Residence Jackie Milad and her concurrent exhibition, Vestige, which runs from August 2 through November 13. Talbot Arts Distributes Record Funds
Talbot Arts, the county arts agency in Talbot County, will award $125,000 in grants to Talbot County arts organizations and programs beginning July 1. These grants are made available through three funding opportunities: community arts development grants, special project grants, and mini-grants. These funds are made possible through the Maryland State Arts Council, which serves as the funding source for the 24 county-based- arts agencies and Baltimore City in the State of Maryland. As the Maryland State Arts Council requires, local grant awards must be matched on at least a one-for-one basis in cash by the requesting organization. Applicants must be organized as Maryland non-profit corporations with IRS tax-exempt status or be government-related entities such as libraries or parks and recreation departments.
Auditions for Neil Simon’s “The Good Doctor”
The Garfield Center for the Arts has announced audition dates for their upcoming production of the Neil Simon comedy The Good Doctor. Auditions are set for Tuesday and Thursday, July 12th and 14th, both starting at 5:30 PM, and Saturday, July 16th, starting at 1:30 PM. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Needed are at least 2 female and 3 male actors, but flexible casting involving a larger cast size is likely. Familiarity with the script is helpful but not necessary,
