Auburn football earns a gift on Independence Day in the form of a re-commitment.

Hollis Davidson , a three-star tight end from Peachtree City, Georgia, rejoins Auburn’s 2025 class after backing off his pledge in May . He chose the Tigers over Florida State on Thursday, becoming Auburn’s 15th commitment of the cycle.

In May, Davidson shared in a tweet that he felt it was too early to have a college plan set in stone. Following his de-commitment from Auburn, Florida State began trending upward for Davidson. However, after another tight end pledged to Florida State, Davidson’s thoughts shifted back to Auburn says Zach Blostein of 247Sports .

Florida State was the school trending for Hollis Davidson after he decommitted from Auburn in early May and even coming out of his official visit to Tallahassee in late June, we felt good about where the ‘Noles stood in his recruitment. However, things changed once FSU got a commitment from four-star tight end Chase Loftin — a prospect we viewed as higher on the priority list for FSU at the position. Davidson began to trend back to the program he was formerly committed to shortly after Loftin picked the ‘Noles and therefore, I’m expecting the Tigers to add him back to their recruiting class today.

Davidson becomes Auburn’s first commitment of July, and he joins fellow Georgian Ryan Ghea as a tight end commitment for Auburn’s 2025 class. Davidson is the No. 31 tight end for the 2025 cycle, and the No. 52 recruit from Georgia.
