    Unsafe visitor behavior forces closure, changes at Northern California state park

    (FOX40.COM) — A popular destination in the Auburn State Recreation Area will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday due to continued dangerous behavior by visitors, according to California State Parks.

    On July 14, the Auburn SRA first announced that they would be closing access to Upper Lake Clementine after witnessing dangerous driving and pedestrian behavior along Foresthill Road.

    According to the Auburn SRA, cars are illegally parking along the roadway, drivers are making illegal U-turns in traffic and pedestrian are crossing on blind turns.

    The area will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday as State Parks continues to work with Placer County and other local authorities to find solutions.

    State Parks said they plan to have the area reopened on weekends by July 27 with some new policies and procedures in place.

    The Upper Lake Clementine area will require weekend and holiday reservations for day use and weekdays will remain first come, first served.
