While teacher turnover reaches its peak in the summer months, the district is offering a special initiative to attract new teachers to the school system. Mexican restaurant that moved into former Kirby's space is now open
A Mexican restaurant chain based in Ohio has opened a location in the former Kirby’s space in Westvale Plaza. Plaza Grande Cocina Mexicana & Cantina opened in the past few days. Kirby’s closed its doors at 2112 W. Genesee St. in Westvale in October 2022, soon after the Kirby’s restaurant in Fayetteville closed.
Former Central NY boys soccer star named head coach at rival program
Syracuse, N.Y. ― Fayetteville-Manlius has named Nate Bourdeau as its new boys soccer coach. Bourdeau is a former Baldwinsville standout who left that program as its all-time leader in goals and assists. He was a six-year member of the Region 1 ODP team and a U-18 US National Team member.

Recently, July 16, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record State investment of nearly $51 million for public safety on Long Island. Nassau County agencies received $1,494,692 and Suffolk County agencies received $1,307,677 for the GIVE funding cycle that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This funding also includes approximately $21.1 million in one-time capital funding to 39 police departments and sheriffs’ offices – including $387,042 for the purchase of law enforcement technology and equipment to allow those agencies more effectively solve, reduce and prevent crime.
