NCSD trustees celebrate Teacher of the Year, Bus Rodeo champ, retired chalkboards
CASPER, Wyo. — Monday was the first day of school, and the Natrona County School District Board of Trustees celebrated some of the things that have taken place since last spring’s graduation. Among them were the formal recognition of the district’s Teacher of the Year as well as the retirement of some archaic classroom technology at Midwest School.
History Museum hosts speakers on the Murie Legacy in Jackson Hole

Powell calls for September interest rate cut
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell supports an interest rate cut during next month’s Federal Open Market Committee meeting. Speaking late last week during the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium in Wyoming, Powell did not commit to the FOMC reducing interest rates during the Sept. 17-18 meeting. “The time has come for policy to adjust,” he said. “The direction of travel is clear, and the timing and pace of rate cuts will depend on incoming data, the evolving outlook and the balance of risks. We will do everything we can to support a strong labor market as we make further progress toward price stability.”
Special Meeting Set For BLM’s Zone Change Request

On August 15, Kim Choma was driving home on US 89 through the narrows area between Auburn and Thayne when she was involved in a serious rollover accident. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the accident scene was strewn over several hundred feet. The Etna resident and University of Wyoming student suffered serious injuries such as a lacerated liver and facial injuries. Due to the timing of the accident and the location, Choma went unseen for anywhere from five to six hours, according to officials.
