Making more time in her busy schedule to chat with Audacy, Katy Perry sat down with Mike Adam at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York to talk all about her daughter Daisy , her forthcoming album 143 , who she looks to for music feedback, and more.

After starting off the conversation by exchanging stories about their children’s birthday parties, with Katy offering up this year’s party theme for Daisy was “mermaids on the sand,” Katy shared, “she actually had a mermaid come, she was very excited."

"It's so funny," she continued, "she loves these chocolate gold coins and I hide them whenever we're at the beach in her sand castles. So like she'll dig and she'll feel like she's really found old Pirate's treasure… it's very sweet.”

“I actually have the song 'LIFETIMES' for my album,” Katy added. Sharing the anecdote she previously told Bru during her recent Check In , about how she tells “her every night — ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’” This time noting, “she started to say yes, Mommy, and we'll find chocolate gold coins together too.”

“She loves 'LIFETIMES,'" Katy said of Daisy, but, “her current favorite is ‘Roar.’” Noting she requests it by saying, “mommy Tiger… it just melts my heart.”

Moving on to the topic of Halloween, Katy shared a few of Daisy’s past costumes which included a witch, and Daisy Duck. Discussing this year’s option Katy said, “I found this really funny one. It's like, the women of the suffrage movement. And since voting is such an important issue right now, I thought, why not be a little cultural, a little, pop culture about that. So her and her best friend might go as like a turn of the century suffrage movement.”

After all the kid talk, the conversation shifted to music, most importantly Katy’s forthcoming album 143 , which we don’t know much about. But one thing we do know is the tracklist, after she revealed it in the “LIFETIMES” music video.

Aware of the features Katy already has on the album, Mike was curious about if there were any collabs that fell through, or didn’t make the album. “I'd hold that secret then for the future,” Katy said, adding “All I know is that the 21 Savage collab on ‘Gimme Gimme’ is really hypnotic and super fun. I'm so excited for people to hear it.”

Divulging which of the album’s tracks was hardest to come together, Perry admitted, “I would say the hardest one to come together probably was ‘Gorgeous,’ just because there was some rewrites on that, just to get that right. Because it's a simple, beautiful, sexy song that’s featuring Kim Petras , and we just wanted to attack it with that feeling of like… when you hear this song, you wanna go and walk somewhere catwalk style or do a slow motion or do some piece of like, I don't know, creative content with it. It just feels like a reveal song but it just makes you feel like you also just wanna call your girlfriends and go out.”

Sharing songs with her family is a given, but as Katy admitted she doesn’t “sit them down” and make them listen. “I play like little bits and pieces.” And out of her familial crew, Katy said her best sounding board is “Orlando's son who's 13… he has a really good ear… He’s probably the best person out of my whole family.” Adding, “He loves this song called ‘All The Love,’ which is on 143, and that’s like one of my favorite songs that I wrote."

As for those she looks to for feedback outside of her family, one is, “My best girlfriend (Lauren), actually she works at Apple Music… She used to work with me at my record label… She’s got such great taste."

"Like, for instance, she sent me ‘Ocean Eye’ by Billie Eilish , she was like, this is the next best thing. She sent me Chappell Roan , when Chappell's record came out like before a year ago. She knew Adele before Adele was Adele. She's always like a number one pop music fan, She’s got incredible taste and she's got a huge standard. So I play things for her and I'm like, ‘what are your thoughts?’”

Another friend Katy looks to for advice is her, “best friend… Sarah Hudson, who’s written a lot of my record and previous records, we wrote ‘Dark Horse’ together," Katy shared. Also listing Dua Lipa ’s “Levitating” as another one of her writing credits.

And of course, Katy obviously knows what's up herself. After all, as she did just say during her MTV VMAs Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech , “There are no decade-long accidents.” But, more than just knowing she’s on the right track with her track, she also has a gift for eyeing talent, a skill she honed during her years as an American Idol judge.

Speaking of American Idol , like her friend Lauren, Katy knew Benson Boone before he was Benson Boone, whom she admittedly hasn’t talked to since the show. “I'll probably get the chance to see him very soon," Katy said, “which is exciting because then I'll just be like, ha ha I told you, so my crystal ball was correct. Well, no, I mean, there was no denying it was pretty obvious. And he's the one that's put in all the hard work, and has all the talent, and the adorable mustache.”

Before wrapping up, being that they were in the Rock Star Suite at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York, Mike asked Katy if she was out on the roof deck with her beverage of choice in hand watching the Sunset and beautiful skyline, “What song off the new album would enhance that experience?”
