Ken Ford is not used to waking up on a Thursday without needing to head to work. But Wednesday was the final day of business for his pizzeria in Sewell, Papa's Pizza. After serving the Gloucester County community for decades, Ford and his partner were essentially forced out by increasing rent costs that they consider to be unsustainable for their strip-mall location.
Air quality alert for 6 N.J. counties until Thursday night
On Thursday at 3:49 p.m. an air quality alert was issued valid until 11 p.m. for Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Gloucester, Camden and Burlington counties. "The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone, until 11 p.m. this evening," states the National Weather Service.

New Jersey says all children should be screened for lead at ages 1 and 2. If they're not, they should receive at least one blood lead test before their 6th birthday. According to a yearly report from the New Jersey Department of Health, 96% of children who were born in New Jersey and turned 6 years old during the state's 2022 fiscal year had at least one blood test for lead during their lifetime.

Philadelphia Man Sentenced for Alleged Carjackings Resulting in Death and Injury
PHILADELPHIA, PA — United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced that John Nusslein, 20, of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to 300 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Nusslein was also ordered to pay restitution of $5,300 and a $300 special assessment. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge John M. Younge on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
