NJ, Philly Stalker Caught Stalking Again, Prosecutors Say
Shane P. Cassidy, 24, is accused of stalking a Unity Township woman and sending her threatening text messages, said the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office. The victim told authorities she received the messages from multiple phone numbers over a period of months, officials said. Some of the messages allegedly contained "photoshopped and superimposed images" of the victim, according to prosecutors.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mary Powell Lewis dies at 98
Mary Powell Lewis, MD, a pioneer for women in orthopedics, died July 15 at age 98, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Aug. 1. She was one of the first American women to be board certified in orthopedic surgery and was a founding member of the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, the report said. Dr. Powell was remembered for championing women in the workplace and led a public discussion for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania in 1985 called "Medicine as a career choice for women."

Unruly passenger from New Jersey wreaked havoc on American Airlines flight: Feds
An unruly passenger from Burlington County, New Jersey, is facing charges after investigators say he engaged in disruptive, life-threatening behavior while on an American Airlines flight.It happened back on July 18 on the Seattle-Dallas American Airlines flight #2101.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Utah, the flight had to be diverted to Salt Lake City after Eric Nicholas Gapco, 26, of Delanco, NJ, assaulted and intimidated a flight attendant and aircraft crew members.Gapco allegedly refused to stay seated, propositioned a flight attendant for sex, vaped on the aircraft, and even attempted to open the plane's exterior door multiple times on the flight, authorities said.In addition to allegedly being loud and bothersome to other passengers, authorities say Gapco locked himself in the bathroom before he was restrained by the flight crew.Gapco was arrested at the Salt Lake City International Airport.He is being charged with interference with a flight crew, and attempted damage to an aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.Gapco was scheduled to make an initial appearance on August 1 in Salt Lake City.

A Medford builder is seeking preliminary approval to build 19 homes on nearly 26 acres of mostly wooded property between Elbo Lane and Cemetery Road in Mount Laurel. MiPro Homes LLC is scheduled to appear before the Township Planning Board next week to seek approval for a preliminary major subdivision on the 249 Elbo Lane property, which for decades had been used for agriculture until around 2006.

Drexel University Receives Funding from Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Grant for Job Training for Pennsylvanians with Disabilities
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) recently announced a new $200,000 investment by the Shapiro Administration in the Community Integrated Services (CIS) Manufacturing Accelerator Program to provide Pennsylvanians with disabilities the skills they need to secure jobs with local manufacturers. The Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career (MTTC) grant will help people with disabilities access manufacturing training programs at Drexel University and the Community College of Philadelphia. Upon completion, participants will receive assistance in applying to jobs with local manufacturers, and once hired, will receive support as needed.
