Police Say Woman Conned a Local Giant Out of $1,000 in Activated Gift Cards
NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA—Police are looking for a woman they say conned supermarket employees out of $1,000 of gift cards and then fled the store. The incident happened in the early evening hours of Saturday, July 20, at the New Britain Township Giant at County Line Road and West Butler Avenue. A woman took gift cards to a cash register to activate and pay for them.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Police said that the woman then “manipulated” the store’s cashier and manager into giving her a refund for the cards but without deactivating them. The woman then walked out of the store with about $1,000 of activated gift cards. Police also said that the women left the store without paying for the items in her shopping cart. Dead puppies found near 9th hole of Chester Co. golf course
Police in Chester County are investigating after more than half a dozen dead puppies were found dumped along the ninth hole of a golf course in Caln Township on Monday. According to police, officials were contacted after seven dead puppies, described as pit bull terriers, were found dumped on the 9th hole, about 130 yards off of the U.S. Route 30 bypass, at the Ingleside Golf Course on Monday.

Person taken in for questioning after shooting outside SEPTA station in Philadelphia

Ex-Philadelphia officer sentenced to at least 8 years in shooting death of 12-year-old
A fired Philadelphia police officer who pleaded guilty to murder in the shooting of a fleeing 12-year-old boy was sentenced Monday to at least eight years in prison.Edsaul Mendoza, a five-year veteran of the force who was fired a week after the shooting in 2022, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in April in the shooting of Thomas "T.J." Philadelphia Physician Dr. David L. Mattingly Settles for $72,000 in Improper Opioid Prescribing Allegations
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Eastern Pennsylvania has disclosed a settlement involving Dr. David L. Mattingly, a Philadelphia-area osteopathic physician, who faced allegations of improperly prescribing opioid medications. According to a press release, U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero stated that Dr. Mattingly has agreed to pay $72,000 to the government and is now subject to stringent restrictions that bar him from prescribing almost all controlled substances, including opioids such as oxycodone. The allegations stem from Dr. Mattingly's prescribing practices between February 2015 and September 2018, which were found to not fully comply with the Controlled Substances Act's requirements for legitimate medical purposes and customary professional practice.
