Augusta sheriff calls for caution with fireworks during drought
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about using fireworks during the ongoing drought. Staunton man in hospital, faces charges following pursuit in Augusta County
A Staunton man faces charges after a pursuit in the Balsley Road area in Augusta County ended with him flipping the truck he was driving on its side. Michael David Keys Sr., 48, of Staunton, was transported to Augusta Health for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash on Friday morning, according to a report from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

CRAIGSVILLE — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting Monday night in Craigsville that left one person injured. In a press release, the Sheriff's Office said that the shooting occurred Monday July 1 at approximately 9:47 p.m. in the 450 block of Hite Hollow Road in Craigsville. The female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, per the release. The Sheriff's Office said that Craigsville Rescue Squad and Augusta County Fire and Rescue responded and transported the victim to Augusta Health.
