    Railroad crossing reopens after 'malfunctioning' in Augusta

    Update: As of 12 p.m., the railroad crossing on Peach Orchard Road near Boykin Road has been repaired and traffic is flowing freely, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

    Augustans commuting Monday morning faced increased traffic due to a railroad malfunctioning in Augusta.

    The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said the railroad crossing on Peach Orchard Road near Boykin Road was "malfunctioning and causing traffic congestion," according to a news release.

    The sheriff's office advised motorists to seek an alternate route.
