Tiger Woods Masters stats as golf icon closes in on $10 million prize money

Tiger Woods is one of the greatest players in golf history and the 15-time major champion will always be synonymous with The Masters .

Woods is a legend who prowls around Augusta National like it’s his natural habitat. As a five-time champion of The Masters, Woods is behind only Jack Nicklaus as the greatest champion at Augusta National who, at his peak, represented an unstoppable force that swept through the competition on an annual basis.

Back in 1997, Woods dominated the field to win by 12 strokes. He then won three of the five Masters tournaments held between 2001 and 2005, surging back to the top of the sport after reconstructing his swing.

However, his incredibly public struggles with his personal life and injuries derailed his career - and Woods failed to capture major glory for 11 years following his epic win at the 2008 U.S. Open. While most of the sporting world believed his day as a major champion was over, the 48-year-old delivered one of the greatest comeback victories to clinch the 2019 Masters title ahead of Dustin Johnson , Brooks Koepka , and Xander Schauffele .

At the 2024 Masters, Woods made his 26th appearance at the illustrious major. He made history back in April, breaking a tie with Gary Player and Fred Couples to stand alone with the most consecutive Masters cuts made in history with 24 before finishing last of those who made the cut at five-over.

When Woods rewrote the history books with his iconic 12-stroke victory at the 1997 Masters, he broke 20 records and tied seven others. Woods has continued to match or erase marks at Augusta in the ensuing 26 years and owns 35 Masters records including youngest champion and most consecutive rounds of par or better.

Woods also remains the last player to win back-to-back Masters titles when he did so in 2001-2002. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has won twice in the last three years, with Jon Rahm clinching his second major title in 2023.

These days, Woods is still battling injury issues. The 15-time major champion has been forced to play a limited schedule in recent years due to physical ailments, returning for majors including The Masters.

Twelve months ago, Woods made the 36-hole cut to tie Player and Couples but was forced to withdraw before the rain-delayed third round resumed after a right foot injury. But Woods is a beloved figure in the world of golf, and he is a legend among fans for his accolades and performances at The Masters.

Woods has established himself as one of the game’s greats beyond Augusta. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame and owns 82 PGA Tour wins. Even before turning professional, he won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 1991, 1992, and 1993, won the U.S. Amateur in 1994, 1995, and 1996, and represented the United States in the 1995 Walker Cup.
