MACON, Ga. (WJBF) – A Venezuelan man has pleaded guilty to possessing a fraudulent green card in federal court this week.

In a statement released by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia, Diego Ibarra pleaded guilty on two counts of possession of a fraudulent document on July 15. He faces a maximum of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine per count. His sentencing date is scheduled for Oct. 7.

Ibarra’s sibling, Argenis Ibarra, and former roommate, Rosbeli Flores-Bello, also of Venezuela, were federally indicted with two counts each of possession of fraudulent document. They too face a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine, if found guilty.

Ibarra’s brother, Jose Ibarra, is the man accused of allegedly murdering Augusta University nursing student, Laken Riley , back in February of this year.

Jose Ibarra has pled not guilty in the case.

Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
