One man dead following shooting in Augusta

AUGUSTA (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting in Augusta.

On Saturday, July 20th, around 12:46 a.m., deputies responded to the 2400 block of Acapulco Drive in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, they located an unidentified male who had been shot at least once.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says the victim was found in the parking lot of the 2400 block of Acapulco Drive. The victim was transported by EMS to Wellstar MCG and pronounced dead at 1:23 a.m. Saturday morning.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The investigation is ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.
