The Augusta area has plenty of options for tacos, but Tacocat has a singular personality.

The menu was partially built around street tacos that you could eat right out of the basket. They were also meant to emphasize the colors and flavors characteristic of street tacos while also incorporating traditional cooking styles. Some of the recipes include pork carnitas, cauliflower, and Baja shrimp.

The tacos are sold individually or you can get a platter of all eight options. For the non-taco fans, there are also torts (sandwiches), carne asada fries, nachos, and multiple brunch dishes.

What do guests wash their meal down with? Tacocat is also making a name for itself as a tequila destination with more than 40 agave and mezcal options. These are offered straight or mixed into margaritas, frozen cocktails, and other boozy drinks.

Whatever the meal looks like, the dining room is an experience all on its own. It's a comfortable, bright, modern space with outdoor seating as well as comfy couches, live music, and string lights all around in addition to LED signs.

Tacocat is one of the latest concepts created by the Frog Hollow Hospitality Group, the owners of other popular Augusta eateries like Farmhaus Burger and Pho-Ramen'L. This marks the group's seventh restaurant.

Here's what some Yelp reviewers are saying about it:

    • "Had an incredible lunch at TacoCat! Our servers were prompt and friendly and the music was on point!"
    • "If you want a taco and it's Tuesday this is your place. Everything else I saw looked good, too. Really nice staff, great band."
    • "Definitely recommend this spot! We came here on Taco Tuesday, two tacos for $7 was great. We got the birria tacos, so good we ordered another after our first order. Vibes in here are great, and the staff was very friendly."

Tacocat is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday Brunch is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's located at 208 10th St. in downtown Augusta. For more information, go to tacocataugusta.com.
