Back-to-school is almost here: Here's what Augusta University students need to know

While there is still a bit of summer vacation left, it's time for Augusta University students to start planning for the start of the school year. The first day of classes is Aug. 14.

Here's what new and returning students need to know about moving in as well as guidance on what to pack to move into their home for the term:

When and where is Move-in day for new Augusta University students?

First-year AU students schedule their appointments between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 9 or between 8 a.m. and noon Aug. 10. They check in at the Campus Recreation Center at 1488 Laney Walker Blvd. Here's what will happen when you get there:

Before arriving to campus, students will need to pick up their JagCard from the JagCard Office at 2500 Walton Way. They should also make sure they have attended orientation and visited AU Parking at 1499 Walton Way.

When and where is Move-in day for returning AU students?

Returning AU students schedule their appointments between 8 a.m. and noon Aug. 12. Check-in is at the clubhouse of University Village for UV residents and at Elm Hall for Elm's residents.

Make sure to bring your JagCard to check in. If you need to replace it, go to the JagCard Office. Those in need of replacement should visit the office before Move-In Day to avoid delays.

What will happen on Move-In day?

AU staff will direct vehicles to designated unloading zones and parking areas. Staff will unload items for you. While the vehicle is being unloaded, the student will go to their residence hall for check in. Then move your car to a designated parking location once unloading is done.

Students who need to move in early may be able to by making a request on their virtual housing portal .

Students should make a packing list before Move-In Day to make sure they have everything. They should also contact their roommates ahead of time in order to prevent doubling up. Here are some things AU recommends bringing to your dorm:

    • Bedding (pillows, linens, mattress pad)
    • Surge protector power strip (required for all electronics)

Mini fridges and microwaves are allowed, but only one per room. U-hauls are not allowed during move-in. Here are some other things students shouldn't bring:
