    Cruelty charges upgraded to Murder following death of Augusta toddler

    AUGUSTA (WJBF) – On July 25th, 20-year old Danashia McClennon was arrested for Cruelty to Children in the 1 st Degree for an incident that occurred the day before on the 700 block of Cross Tree Court.

    On July 30th, McClennon was additionally charged with Murder for this incident, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

    2-year-old Rayshon Roberts of Fayetteville Drive was taken to the hospital July 24th after reportedly being found unresponsive in a bathtub.

    Witnesses and 1st responders say the child and his diaper were completely dry.

    Reports say one woman said that she left the child in the bathtub for about 10 minutes and when she returned he was face down in the water. She then allegedly changed her story and told authorities that she and the child were on the couch while she played video games and she noticed the he was unresponsive.

    An autopsy will be performed on Rayshon to determine his cause of death.

    McClennon is being held at the Richmond County Jail.
