AUGUSTA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after stabbing his father and threatening his family over being denied medication.

According to a criminal complaint, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, West Virginia State Trooper S. M. Ward responded to a call for assistance from the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office regarding a domestic incident on Mack Road in Augusta.

Upon arrival, he and Hampshire County Deputy Martin approached the residence where a male, later identified as 40-year-old Carl Edward Haymond, had allegedly stabbed his father and was armed with a knife.

According to witness statements, Haymond became agitated when denied medication, grabbed a kitchen knife, and threatened the household.

Haymond emerged from the residence armed, ignored commands to stop, and approached the officers, prompting Trooper Ward to deploy his taser twice before successfully subduing him.

Despite resistance and aggression from Haymond, including attempts to strike and head-butt Trooper Ward and other officers, they eventually managed to restrain him.

Haymond later calmed down, allowing officers to proceed with the domestic investigation.

Haymond was arrested and charged with four counts of Domestic Battery and Battery on an Officer.

He is currently at Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on a $10,012 cash-only bond.
