Aurora's Davis Bryant tied for lead after first round of Inspirato Colorado Open

Davis Bryant is on a hot streak.

The former Colorado State golfer and Aurora native came into the 2024 Inspirato Colorado Open off a win at the Wyoming State Open earlier this month as well as a top five finish at the Iowa Open last week.

The streak conitnued during Thursday's first round at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club where the purse is $250,000 and the winner takes home $100,000.

He had seven birdies and one bogey to complete a round of 65 which left him in tie for first with Scotland's Paul O'Hara. Bryant is a former CGA Player of the Year who turned professional after the 2023 U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club.

Englewood's Jake Staiano, Englewood's Tristan Goodwin and Fort Collins' AJ Ott sit two shots back with a host of players at 4-under par.

Pat Grady is the the highest ranked amateur on the leaderboard at 3-under and a tie for 15th. Grady played his college golf at the University of Colorado and was an assistant coach in Boulder as well. He was tied for the lead earlier in the day but went finished the day with back-to-back double bogeys.

2001 British Open winner and Cherry Hills resident David Duval shot 2-over in the first round while his son Brady bested him by one shot with a 72. Defending champion Turk Petitt finished the day with an even par 71.

Michael Block, whose stardom rose during the 2023 PGA Championship, shot an opening-round 73 to sit in a tie for 90th place.
