All about Lucy: Football games beat watching TV, no contest

Outside of running track and cross-country, what do you like most about your school?

I like football games because the environment is always really energetic. Everyone goes to Whataburger right afterward. I enjoy the social aspect of it. I will admit I don't watch a lot of the football, but it's fun to be there with my friends.

What do you think you'll be doing when you're 30?

I am very interested in nutrition and in health and wellness. I'd like to be in that field, maybe as a counselor to young athletes or maybe own my own business.

Tell us something about you that most people don't know .

Probably that I'm not a TV show or movie kind of person. I can't get on board with it. I don't find it fun or entertaining. ... I think I just grew out of it.

Have you ever done something onstage?

I did an "I Love Lucy" skit for my fifth-grade talent show with one of my best friends. It was the chocolate eating scene on the conveyor belt.

If you bought a car that matched your personality, what would it be?

I've got to say my Toyota 4Runner. It's just my baby. It's beautiful, it drives wonderful. It fits me. I call him Zane.

The family that runs together ...

How did you get started running long distances?

I started to run when I was in the sixth grade because my dad is an ultra-marathon runner. You know, crazy 100-mile races. We have always been a Turkey Trot family on Thanksgiving Day. I got into it during my later years in middle school because I'd go on runs with my dad and I enjoyed it.

What do you think about when you're running alone?

Oh man, so many things. I've very Type A, so I'm extremely organized. I must have a to-do list literally every minute of the day. So I think about schoolwork I have to do, I think about what my plans are that day, thinking about what I want to pursue in the health field and probably what I want to eat after as well.

How do you motivate yourself to run on days you don't feel like it?

For me, the biggest thing is discipline and consistency. There's a quote that I follow: "Discipline is about choosing what you want now versus what you want most." The days I don't feel like running, I have to remember this is a long process.

What has been your favorite memory running for Dripping Springs?

I'd have to say making it to state this year (in cross-country). We weren't sure if we were going to make it or not. I didn't have a great race at regionals, and I had doubts. When we learned we'd made it to state, it was a very celebratory (time) with our team and we were all jumping up and down because we'd have one more shot.

Dream dinner: Music is on the menu

If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be? ,

I'll go with Freddie Mercury, Steve Prefontaine, obviously Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston because "Friends" is the one TV show that I really like.

What do you think Freddie Mercury and Taylor Swift would talk about?

It's got to be about music, right? I'd like to know where they got their inspiration from. Maybe how the dynamics of the crowd are different from Freddie's time and Taylor's time.
