    Vote for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week

    It's time to make your choice for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week for Feb. 19-24. Dripping Springs wrestler Alec Rill was voted the top boys athlete for the week of Feb. 12-17.

    This week's list includes one basketball player, two soccer players a swimming state champion and our first lacrosse nominee.

    Jack Braddock, Hyde Park lacrosse

    Braddock scored seven goals and had two assists in a 13-3 victory over Dallas Parish Episcopal.

    Orlando Frias, Connally soccer

    Frias finished with five goals and five assists in the Cougars' 7-1 win over Elgin and 8-0 win over Cedar Creek. The Cougars have won 10 straight matches and are 18-0-1 on the season.

    Austin Gourrier, McCallum soccer

    Gourrier tallied five total goals in the Knights’ wins over LBJ and Northeast.

    Jeremy Kelly, Georgetown swimming

    Kelly won the 100-yard freestyle gold medal at the UIL state swimming meet, setting a Class 5A record in the process. He also won silver in the 100 breaststroke and anchored the 400 freestyle relay to gold as the Eagles won their second straight Class 5A state team championship.

    Josiah Moseley, Stony Point basketball

    Moseley averaged 26.58 points and 12.5 rebounds in a pair of bi-district and area-round playoff wins over Bowie and Converse Judson.
