If you’ve been to one of the several Jack Allen’s Kitchen locations on the weekend, you know that owners chef Jack Gilmore and Tom Kamm like a good, boozy brunch.

The partners, who also operate Salt Traders Coastal Cooking , are converting that morning and daytime love into a new concept. The cheekily named Day Maker Half Day Cafe will serve breakfast, brunch and lunch daily in the space at Bee Caves Road and MoPac long occupied by IHOP  (1101 S. MoPac).

The menu will include brisket hash, a breakfast burger, layered breakfast enchiladas, churro pancakes, eggs Benedict and a pastrami sandwich made with beef belly.

“I want every bite to bring a smile to our guests’ faces,” said executive chef Forrest Briwa, who previously worked at Salt Traders and Jack Allen’s.

The owners intend for the place to have boozy, day-drinking energy, with a roster of specialty and classic cocktails, along with fresh-squeezed juices. A walk-up coffee bar will also serve grab-and-go drinks and pastries.

Day Maker is slated to open in the fall and will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out @daymakeratx on Instagram for updates.

Gilmore and Kamm, who previously worked as executive chef and director of operations at Z’Tejas, opened the original Jack Allen’s in 2009 and Salt Traders in 2016. There are now five locations of Jack Allen’s and two Salt Traders locations.
