Texas A&M football recorded its first win of the 2024 season Saturday afternoon, dominating McNeese State 52-10 .

Aggies quarterback Connor Weigman recorded his first two touchdown passes and the Aggies defense held the Cowboys to 279 yards of offense and one touchdown.

Next up is a conference clash with Florida in Gainesville.

Here's how the Aggies graded out Saturday:

    Quarterback: A-

Weigman was much better than his season opening performance. He completed 11 of 14 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns, and his overall contribution was deserving of an A. However, he wasn't the only quarterback who played in the game.

More: No. 20 Texas A&M's defense can't make up for sluggish offense in loss to No. 7 Notre Dame

Marcel Reed played the entire second half. The backup wasn't awful and he didn't make any mistakes, but his play wasn't as clean as Weigman's. Reed completed 5 of 11 passes for 71 yards and rushed for 43 yards. If Weigman played more, he might've been able to push this grade higher.

    Running back: A+

The first A+ of the season goes to the Aggies' stable of running backs, and for good reason. Out of their 333 yards rushing, 251 yards came from the backfield.

LeVeon Moss and Amari Daniels led the team with four total touchdowns and 159 yards rushing between the two. Terry Bussey only had one carry, but he made it count, taking it 65 yards to the house.

    Receivers: A

The receivers' production was limited because of how good the run game was, but they shone brighter than they did vs. Notre Dame.

Moose Muhammad III caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown, while Noah Thomas had three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown. Cyrus Allen led the group, with five catches for 72 yards.

Jahdae Walker was held out after an injury scare, though coach Mike Elko said that it was precautionary. There's still questions about who the No. 1 receiver is, but this week was a solid performance.

    Offensive line: A+

With Mark Nabou Jr. out for the season , Koli Faaui was called upon to start in his place. Chemistry is an important factor on offensive lines, but the Aggies were as cohesive as ever in their performance.

It was a stellar game from Texas A&M's offensive line, who controlled the trenches and imposed their will on McNeese. The lineman kept Weigman and Reed clean and also made the running backs' job easy, creating plenty of holes to run through.

    Defensive line: B+

Despite playing well, the expectations for Texas A&M's best unit is higher than the others. The Aggies recorded zero sacks, though they did record three tackles for loss.

The run defense was not ironclad either. McNeese was able to rush for 180 yards on 38 carries for 4.7 yards per carry. Overall, the defense didn't give up a touchdown the vast majority of the game, so critiques can't be too harsh.

    Linebackers: A

Not much to complain about from Texas A&M's linebackers. They didn't blow any coverages and did their job against a lackluster Cowboys offense.

Taurean York collected four total tackles and the room showed off their depth, with Tristan Jernigan showing up for five tackles as well. Scooby Williams had an injury and could've played but with the way the game went, Elko elected to keep him out.

    Secondary: A+

The Aggies won the turnover battle this week. Marcus Ratcliffe and Will Lee III each intercepted McNeese quarterback Kamden Sixkiller.

They also held Sixkiller to 80 yards through the air on a 47% completion rate. They played stingy coverage all night and got physical with McNeese receivers without committing penalties.

    Special teams: A+

Getting the 12 man Kickoff Team onto the field is an automatic A+ grade. Randy Bond made his only field goal of the day from 42 yards out.

    Coaching: A

Elko had his team ready to play after an emotional loss. The Aggies came out with fire and dominated to the point where the backups were in before the first half ended. They also cut their penalties from six to three compared to last week.
