Authorities determined the deaths of a couple inside a Northwest Austin apartment complex were the result of a murder-suicide, police said.

A 911 caller asked police to check on the welfare of her niece and her niece’s husband at 5705 Diehl Trail, near W. Parmer Lane and McNeil Drive, on Tuesday afternoon and said she had not heard from either person in the previous 24 hours, police said Thursday in a news release. About an hour later, the caller made a second 911 call and said she was outside the apartment and that no one was answering the door, despite the couple's car being in the parking lot.

Police responded to the scene and found Youree Kang, 34, and Hannah Kang, 25, dead inside the apartment, the release said. They believe Youree Kang killed Hannah Kang, and then committed suicide.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
