Today is Sept. 28, 2024. And on this date in Texas history, Pavlina Steffkova established a standard for the volleyball program's setters.

During a 1996 trip to Oklahoma, Steffkova recorded 85 assists in a 3-2 win over the Sooners. Those 85 assists bested Missy Kurt's 84-assist performance against LSU in 1990 and remain a school record at Texas.

Steffkova's assists total was partially inflated by the side-out scoring era of college volleyball. Volleyball changed to rally scoring in 2001.

Over her two years at Texas, Steffkova averaged 12.2 assists and 0.35 aces per set. Those averages rank fourth and sixth in the UT record books.
