"College GameDay" is heading back to The Lone Star State for one of Texas football's biggest regular season games of the season.

With the Longhorns' first SEC matchup against No. 4 Georgia on the Week 8 docket, college football's preeminent pregame show with Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee is returning to Austin and DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium for a top-five matchup.

It is the first time that "College GameDay" is returning to Austin since 2022 when then-No. 18 Texas hosted then-No. 4 TCU, where golfer Jordan Spieth was the guest picker. Could Spieth make a return as the guest picker this time? Could it be Matthew McConaughey? Or could it be World No. 1 and Olympic gold golf medalist Scottie Scheffler? Time will only tell.

Texas is coming off a 34-3 romp over Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry last week at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Quinn Ewers finished 20 of 29 passing for 199 yards with two total touchdowns in his first start back from injury. Meanwhile, Georgia is coming off back-to-back wins over Auburn and Mississippi State after falling to Alabama in Week 5.

Here's what you need to know about "College GameDay" in Week 8, including time, date, location, who the guest picker is and more:

Where is 'College GameDay' location in Week 8?

    • Location: Texas (Austin, Texas)
    • Time: 8 a.m. CT

"College GameDay" is returning to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium and Texas for the first time since 2022, and the 10th overall time. ESPN chose the top-five SEC showdown between the Longhorns and the Bulldogs over the Third Saturday in October rivalry between No. 7 Alabama and No. 10 Tennessee, No. 11 Notre Dame at Georgia Tech and No. 8 LSU at Arkansas.

Saturday's episode of "College GameDay" marks the 24th time that the Longhorns will be featured on the show, and the second of this college football season as "GameDay" was in Ann Arbor for Texas' road game at Michigan in Week 2. The Longhorns are 12-11 when featured on "GameDay," as previously reported by the Austin American-Statesman.

As for the Bulldogs, Saturday will be the seventh time Georgia has appeared on "GameDay" in the last three seasons. Like Texas, Georgia has appeared on "College GameDay" already this season, back in Week 5 when Kirby Smart's team was knocked off by then-No. 4 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

How to watch 'College GameDay' in Week 8? TV channel, streaming options

"College GameDay" will be broadcast nationally on ESPN with the likes of Davis, Saban, McAfee and Herbstreit sitting at the "GameDay" desk to preview the biggest storylines of college football in Week 8. Lee Corso is expected to return to the "GameDay" desk after missing the last two weeks.

Streaming options for "College GameDay" include the ESPN app (by logging in with your TV provider credentials) or Fubo, which carries the ESPN family of networks and offers a free trial to new subscribers.

What time is 'College GameDay' today?

    • Date: Saturday, Oct. 19
    • Time: 8 a.m. CT

The three-hour college football pregame show will start at 8 a.m. CT from Texas' campus in Austin.

    'College GameDay' schedule on ESPN

Saturday's show of "College GameDay" will serve as the precursor to Saturday night's primetime game between Texas and Georgia on ABC. Chris Fowler, Herbstreit, Holly Rowe and Katie George will be on the call for the Longhorns-Bulldogs on ABC. You can also stream that game on Fubo , which carries the ESPN family of networks and offers a free trial to new subscribers.

Four possible "GameDay" locations for Week 9 include the historical rivalry between No. 11 Notre Dame-Navy at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, No. 16 Missouri traveling to No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 LSU traveling to Kyle Field and No. 14 Texas A&M and Oklahoma traveling to No. 15 Ole Miss.

Since "GameDay" has already traveled to Alabama and Texas A&M this season, the Irish vs. Midshipman at Metlife is an intriguing game for next week's "GameDay" as both teams are in a position for the 12-team College Football Playoff and are ranked in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

Here's where "GameDay" has traveled so far this season, including past guest pickers:

Who is the guest picker for 'College GameDay' in Week 8?

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world, will be the celebrity guest picker for "College GameDay" on Saturday at Texas, with the show making the announcement Thursday.

Though he was born in New Jersey, Scheffler spent much of his childhood in Dallas and went on to graduate from Texas, where he was a standout on the Longhorns' golf team.

The 28-year-old Scheffler is the reigning Masters champion and Olympic gold-medalist.
