Texas A&M football recruiting: Trashawn Ruffin, a 4-star DL, commits to Aggies

COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M football snagged another big-time recruiting addition on Friday when four-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin committed to the Aggies .

This is the second time in as many days that a Class of 2026 four-star recruit has verbally pledged to A&M, with quarterback Helaman Casuga committing yesterday.

Ruffin, a 6-foot-4 defensive tackle from North Duplin High School in Mount Olive, North Carolina, chose the Aggies over South Carolina, Michigan, and Florida State. He's a top-30 defensive line prospect for the 2026 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

Ruffin's class will follow A&M's 2025 group, which ranks No. 8. Coach Mike Elko and staff also received commitments from three-star receiver Tristan Norman out of Alabama and four-star athlete Noah Mikhail. A&M's most recent defensive pledge before Ruffin was from four-star safety Rashad Johnson out of Florida in September.

The Aggies' defensive line room includes Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart, both potential early-round NFL draft picks, as well as other impact interior players, Albert Regis and Shemar Turner.

A&M currently has five defensive linemen committed in the 2025 class, with pledges from DJ Sanders, Kiotti Armstrong, Marco Jones, Landon Rink, and Chace Sims.

Ruffin is the first defensive lineman in the 2026 class to commit to the Aggies.

The Aggies will return from a bye week to play Saturday in Week 8 action against Mississippi State (1-5).
