Our list of American-Statesman Editorial Board endorsements in the November 2024 election

Early voting is underway for the Nov. 5 election , in which voters will not only pick a president but also a U.S. Senator, members of Congress and officials in a slew of state and local races. In Austin, voters will also decide the fate of two Proposition A's : A Travis County measure to help fund child care for working families, and an Austin school district proposal to bolster staffing and stave off the worst budget cuts.

Early voting runs from Monday, Oct. 21 to Nov. 1. To find voting locations and sample ballots, visit votetravis.com (Travis County), wilcotx.gov/elections (Williamson County), hayscountytx.gov/elections (Hays County) or bastropvotes.org (Bastrop County).

To arrive at its recommendations, the Austin American-Statesman Editorial Board interviewed 37 candidates in key races, beginning in August. Our coverage includes recommendations for 14 political races and two tax rate elections. We can't get to every race on the ballot, including state Legislative ones, so we chose to focus on the races where we felt our recommendations could help readers. As we've noted, our goal is to provide analysis and recommendations to consider alongside the other information you encounter about the elections.
