Hormel Foods is honoring its hometown with a musical celebration on Main Street, outside the SPAM Museum in downtown Austin, Minnesota.

Grammy nominated band, Plain White T’s, will headline a free outdoor concert from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. Los Rebeldes will open the show at 5 p.m., followed by Martin Zellar and the Hardways at 6 p.m., and the Plain White T’s at 7:30 p.m.

The pop-punk Plain White T’s have been playing for more than two decades. They are best known for their signature hit song “Hey There Delilah,” which achieved platinum status in 2007 and earned two Grammy nominations.

Zellar, who first broke through in the 1980s Minneapolis music scene as the lead singer and songwriter of the alt-country pioneering Gear Daddies, has recorded 14 studio albums throughout his career, including his most recent album titled “Head West,” which was released in 2023.

Los Rebeldes (The Rebels), a Mexican-American group from southern Minnesota, will open the concert playing a variety of musical styles — from Tex-Mex to folk to country-rock.

“Austin holds such a special place in our hearts,” said Katie Clark, senior vice president and chief communications officer for Hormel Foods. “This event is a way to celebrate our community and we are thrilled to welcome these three incredible performers to our town for a night of great music.”

This will be the second time in three years that the company has hosted a free family-friendly community concert in downtown Austin. In addition to the music, there will be food trucks and local downtown businesses open to serve attendees food and drink.

In keeping with the company’s support of hunger and food security causes, during the event, attendees are encouraged to use the displayed QR code to donate and support the United Way of Mower County and the Hometown Food Security Project. One hundred percent of the contributions will directly aid local and regional hunger-relief efforts helping to ensure that families in Mower County have access to the food they need. In addition to individual donations, Hormel Foods will match the amount raised, to help fight against hunger in the community.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring chairs to sit in during the performances.
