Austin Senior Center duplicate bridge winners announced

Duplicate bridge players gather at the Austin Senior Center to play the game at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week.

People come from Austin, Rose Creek, Albert Lea, Mason City and Northwood.

Tuesday’s winners, playing five full tables, were:

• First: Theresa Baldus and Joyce Crowe
• Second: Vandy Newman and Ron Peters
• Third: John Leisen and Rick Stroup
• Fourth: Joyce Kogel and Paul Hanson
• Fifth: Jim Fisher and Dave Ring

Tuesday’s group also had the honor of singing and welcoming Edna Knobbe from Rose Creek, who turned 99 this week. She still enjoys bridge and playes often. Edna has been playing weekly for years and encourages elderly card players to join in on this game. Just meet her, and she will vouch for the benefits of this game.

Three tables were played Wednesday. Winners were as follows:

• First: Stan Schultz and Tom Flaherty
• Second: Dave Ring and Gail Schultz
• Third: Joyce Kogel and Paul Hanson
